EPG Collector is a powerful Windows-based freeware utility designed to fix missing or blank Electronic Program Guide (EPG) data. It scans your TV tuner hardware over-the-air (OTA) or via satellite to strip out broadcast guide data (like PSIP or EIT) and feed it directly into your Media Center or Home Theater PC.
If your channel listings are showing “No Information Available,” you can resolve the issue by using the EPG Collector Project Page on SourceForge to set up and fine-tune your parameters. 1. Match Physical RF Channels, Not Virtual Numbers
When setting up the Tuning tab in EPG Centre, it is a common mistake to enter the channel number you see on your screen (the virtual channel). EPG Collector requires the physical RF channel frequency to lock onto a signal.
Entering virtual channel numbers causes the scanner to stall or return “signal not acquired” errors.
Use an online tool like AntennaWeb to discover the exact physical RF channel numbers for your local area broadcasts.
On the Tuning tab, manually select and add only those specific active RF frequencies to save hours of scanning empty airwaves. 2. Disable “Automatically Map EPG Data”
A frequent cause for missing or suddenly disappearing channel listings is enabling automatic mapping inside the tool’s settings. Go to the Output tab in EPG Centre.
Uncheck the box labeled Automatically map EPG data to channels.
When this setting is enabled, Windows Media Center (WMC) often conflicts with the data structure and drops the listings completely. Disabling it forces a stable, permanent connection. 3. Manually Link Listings in Your Media Player
